Music Electives

Middle School Guitar and Ukulele

Our middle school music program provides students the opportunity to learn how to play the guitar or ukulele.  Students also learn about the history of the instruments and their place in popular music. No previous experience is required. Students learn how to tune their instruments, read chord charts and tablature, develop the proper techniques for fretting, plucking, and strumming, and play songs from different genres and styles with their classmates. 

Students are welcome to bring their own instruments to class if they have one or use one of the school guitars or ukuleles.  As part of our program, students perform in two school concerts, showing their progress.
